Taos Museum Features New Mexorado Works

Running through June 19, 2011 at the Harwood Museum of Art, New Mexorado showcases works that were created in the region located between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Denver, Colorado.

The exhibition celebrates technical excellence, personal vision, and the bonds connecting the community of artists living and working in this unique part of the world. It features 124 pieces by 80 artists and it includes a variety of mediums, from painting and drawing to sculpture and photography.

And as curator Libby Lumpkin points out, this exhibition provides the opportunity for folks to learn about their artistic New Mexorado neighbors -- "those loners, hippies, socialites, cowpokes, scientists, and retired generals living at the end of some dirt road, some of whom are developing as artists, and a couple of whom might actually be waiting for that space ship."

Located just south of the Taos Plaza, the Harwood Museum of Art features barrier-free access throughout the galleries. For more information about the Harwood Museum of Art or New Mexorado visit www.harwoodmuseum.org.
