On November 1, 2005 The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies kicked off their fifteenth season in grand style. The lobby of the historic Plaza Theater was adorned with birthday decorations, while ushers were decked out in party attire. Far from a one-night celebration, this festive atmosphere continues throughout the season as the curtain goes up on this Palm Springs mainstay.
Billed as a Broadway-caliber celebration of the music, dance and comedy of the 30s and 40s, the follies features performers from 57 to 82 years old. “Throughout the past fourteen seasons, the Follies has become synonymous with Palm Springs and shown the world a new way of looking at old,” says Follies co-founder Mary Jardin.
This season the Follies presents another sensational roster of international guest stars including Latin songstress Anacani (November 1 – December 31, 2005); The Four Coins (January 11 – March 19, 2006); and ragtime and honky-tonk pianist Jo Ann Castle (March 22 – May 21, 2006).
Built in 1936 and renovated in 1991, the Plaza Theater is home to the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. Access features in the theater include ramp access, wide doorways and a selection of accessible seats. The staff is also very accommodating — just let them know about your access needs when you make your reservation.
The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies offers matinee and evening performances through May 21, 2006. For more information call (760) 327-0225 or visit www.psfollies.com.
