Billed as a day of fun for kite enthusiasts and casual observers alike, the fifth annual Huntington Beach Kite Party is slated for February 24-25, 2007. Sponsored by the Kite Connection, the kite fest is a colorful, fun event where participants showcase their skills with stunt kites and show off the newest innovations in kite design. There's no competition and no rules — just a lot of people who are fanatical about kites having a good time on the wide open beaches of Surf City USA.
There’s no admission charge for the event, and it can be viewed from 8.5-mile Huntington Beach Ocean Strand or from the Huntington Beach Pier. The Strand is wide, level and very wheelable, with accessible restrooms and parking at every access point, and plenty of food and drink concessions along the way.
The most accessible way to reach the Huntington Beach Pier is from Main Street. There is ramp access from the Strand up to Main Street in the parking lot near the pier. The wooden pier is level and nicely accessible, with benches along the way.
Best of all, there’s no smoking allowed along the beach or the pier, which makes for a very enjoyable beach experience.
