Syria in Delaware
Wilmington's First USA Riverfront Arts Center is currently hosting Syria, Land of Civilizations, an acclaimed international exhibition which features 400 items from eleven Syrian museums. Wilmington is one of only two US locations selected for this rotating exhibition. The exhibition opened July 14, 2001 and runs through October 21, 2001. (Extended until December 9, 2001)

This acclaimed international exhibition features a variety of unique pieces, including a 3,800-year-old statuette of the god Baal (often mentioned in the Bible), a cuneiform cylinder seal 4,400 years old, an 1800-year-old blown-glass fish, a 1,950-year-old Roman-influenced helmet and mask, and a hand ax that is a million years old.
Admission to the Syria, Land of Civilizations exhibition is by timed ticket. The ticket price includes an orientation film and a personal audio tour of the exhibition. The First USA Riverfront Arts Center is the cornerstone of Wilmington's revitalized Christina River waterfront. As a premier venue for world class art and cultural exhibitions, the First US Riverfront Arts Center features barrier-free access, including a zero step entry, automatic doors and accessible bathrooms. A limited number of manual wheelchairs are also available for loan on a first-come basis at the front desk.

The First USA Riverfront Arts Center is located just a few short blocks from Frawley Stadium and the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. The nearby Christina River waterfront includes a nicely accessible 1.3 mile riverwalk.
