Can you recommend a place to rent a power wheelchair in Amsterdam? We’re planning a trip over there with my son, who cannot use a manual wheelchair.
Your best shot would be to take your son’s own power wheelchair with him, as it’s fitted specifically to him and he’d have less chance of a skin breakdown. That said, the folks at Accessible Travel Netherlands (www.accessibletravelnl.com) can probably help you out. They offer a variety of accessible travel options — including hotel packages, sightseeing and equipment rental — in the Netherlands. Indeed they are the local experts, as they are based in Amsterdam. I’d drop them a note at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if they can find the right wheelchair for your son. Either way, I’d still bring along your son’s wheelchair cushion, as not only will it make him more comfortable, but he’ll also be healthier in the long run. Have a great trip.
