South Rim Grand Canyon Lodges Closed for Labor Day Weekend
Due to a break in the Transcanyon Waterline, which supplies potable water to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, all South Rim Grand Canyon lodges will be closed from August 29, 2024 to September 4, 2024. The closure will allow crews to make emergency repairs to the water system, which has had 85 major breaks since 2010.
All Xanterra and Delaware North Grand Canyon lodges will be closed. This includes:
- El Tovar Hotel
- Bright Angel Lodge
- Kachina Lodge
- Thunderbird Lodge
- Maswik Lodge
- Phantom Ranch
- Maswik Lodge
- Yavapai Lodge
- Trailer Village RV Park
Grand Canyon National Park South Rim campgrounds will remain open, but only dry camping will be permitted. Water spigot access will be turned off inside the campgrounds, but will be available at the Mather Campground check-in kiosk. Faucets in the park bathrooms will remain operational. Food and beverage services and the Grand Canyon Clinic will also remain open.
Services on the North Rim, including Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim will remain open.
