Wheelchair-Accessible Sydney and Cairns Tours

I use a manual wheelchair and I’m planning to visit Australia next year. I plan to visit Sydney and Cairns and I already have my hotels booked. I plan to spend a few days exploring the areas on my own but I’d also like to find a few day tours to take. Do you know of any wheelchair-accessible Sydney or Cairns day tours?

It sounds like you have a great trip planned, and it’s good that you’ve already reserved your accessible accommodations. The good news is that wheelchair-accessible day tours are available form both Sydney and Cairns.

Wheelchairs to Go (www.wheelchairstogo.com.au) can provide wheelchair-accessible Sydney tours. They offer day tours to the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley in accessible vehicles. And if you’d like to see some things in Sydney, they also have a wheelchair-accessible half-day tour of highlights of the city, including the Sydney Opera House.

And as far as Cairns-based tours go, look no further than Down Under Tours (www.downundertours.com/blog/accessibility). Their fleet includes vehicles with side loading hydraulic lifts that can accommodate up to four wheelchair-users. They offer an accessible day tour to the mountaintop village of Kuranda; as well as one to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures which is a wildlife park filled with crocodiles, koalas, kangaroos, birds and reptiles.

Alternatively, if you’d like a private tour, Down Under Tours can create a wheelchair-accessible tour tailored to your specific needs and desires.

Enjoy your trip Down Under!
